The Vicar's Voice:Mother Michele Whitford

Spring has finally come! The daffodils and tulips are in bloom around the church and new leaves are budding bringing green back into our landscape. Today as I write this it is the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ. Forty days after the Resurrection our Lord ascended to the right hand of the Father as he told his disciples he would. He promised to send an Advocate, a Comforter, The Holy Spirit who would lead and guide them to share the Good News to all nations. In ten more days we will celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, Sunday, May 20th, when the Holy Spirit descends upon the disciples as a mighty wind and tongues of fire. The Disciples are empowered to step out and share the Gospel of Jesus crucified and risen from the dead for the salvation of all people. I invite you to join us for this the third most important feast day in the church calendar. All are welcome to come and enjoy our Spirit filled worship.

In His Mercy,

Mother Michele+

Wednesday, May 16 from 6:00pm-7:30pm is the gathering of Nick’s Group, a support group for families who have lost a loved one to any kind of addiction.  Julie Walzack lost her son Nick last July to a drug overdose and tried to find a support group to help her through the grieving process.  Julie couldn’t find a group that met her needs and decided to start this group that will meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month.   If you know of someone who has lost someone to addiction, please tell them about this group.  If you have further questions, call or text Julie at:  920-838-2562.

2nd Hand Treasure Sale

2nd Hand Treasure Sale: Beginning Thursday June 7th through Saturday, June 9th from 9:00am – 4:00pm each day, St. Paul’s will hold its annual 2nd Hand Treasure sale. Treasures can be brought to the church and put on the pew in the hall outside the offices. Please label the items as “2nd Hand Treasure” so we will know what it is for the sale. Sorting and pricing will take place the week before the sale. Please contact Marilyn for specific details.

Paper Drive

We will again be having a paper drive to raise money for the lift.  Jesse Cortinaz, our Senior Warden has arranged for a semi-trailer that will be parked east of McDonalds starting in June until September.  We will be collecting JUST newspapers that should be either in paper bags or tied together with string.  The trailer will be open on Saturdays from 9am till noon for papers to be delivered.  If you know of a business that has left over newspapers, please ask if you can have them & bring them to the semi or to church.

Summer Camp

All youth are invited to attend Summer Camp at Camp Lakotah located 3 miles east of Wautoma, WI on Highway 21.  The camp offers rustic cabins, a sand beach, open fields & modern facilities for meals & other activities.  The Diocese of Fond du Lac Summer Camp is open to all ages to learn more about God, community & self with a lot of fun.  The focus is faith development through activities such as teaching and worship, arts & crafts, campfires, swimming, Frisbee golf, field games, drams, skits, boating, singing, nature hikes, games, storytelling, sky gazing and kite flying.  All activities are under the guidance of trained staff, who are committed to Christian formation & safety.  Senior Camp for finishing grades 9-12 runs from June 10-16.  Cost is $395.  Middler Camp for finishing grades 6-8 & Junior Camp for finishing grades 2-5 runs from June 17-June 22.  Cost is $330.  Kinder Camp for children ages 4-7 with a parent or another adult runs from June 22-24 and costs $140.  See Mother Michele for registration forms.  Don’t let the cost of camp keep you from attending for scholarships are available.

Fellowship & Hospitality

When we read about Jesus we see many times his use of food that becomes more than simply fuel for the body.  Food offers space for community and is a direct means of connection between worship, community and miracles.  When we share food we find a relationship between humanity and food.  We build community by getting to know each other and share each other’s stories.  Hospitality is not just providing a snack, but it is also being present and sharing each other’s lives.  Yes, we do need people to sign up to host a fellowship time, but even more important is participating and learning something new about someone else.  Listen to each other and start to develop a unity that we share with Jesus and our church community!  Praise God for this faithful community of believers!

We Lift Them to the Lord! Wheelchair Lift Campaign

Much excitement!! Please check out the progress of our new wheelchair lift.

We expect that the lift itself will be installed the week of May 21st!

You can see the progress just inside the door from the parking area

and downstairs in the youth room.

We have raised more than half of the cost of the lift through fundraising and generous donations from you. The remaining $28,000 will be covered by a loan to St. Paul’s from the Diocesan Trustees.  To repay the loan, we will begin a capital campaign to Lift Them to the Lord one inch at a time. The lift will travel 112 inches from the first floor to the lower level allowing full access to the Fellowship Hall for everyone. During this campaign we are asking you to prayerfully consider pledging to donate an amount equal to one or more inches. Each inch the lift travels is equal to $250.00. If you pay for an inch in one year it breaks down to a one-time payment of $250 or $21.00 per month for 12 months or $5.00 per week for 52 weeks.  You can also choose to pay for an inch over the next 2 years. This would be two annual payments of $125.00 or $10.50 per month or $2.50 per week for two years. Please pray about this and make a pledge for the lift project that will make our Fellowship Hall accessible to everyone.

It is not how much we do,

It is not how much we give,

but how much love we put in the giving.
